Eritrea, located in the Horn of Africa, is a fascinating country with a rich history and diverse culture that offers a unique experience for teenagers. The capital city, Asmara, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved colonial Italian Modernist architecture. The high season for tourism in Eritrea is between October and March when the weather is cooler and more comfortable. During this time, the temperature ranges between 18-25 degrees Celsius, making it perfect for outdoor activities. One can explore the capital city of Asmara, with its charming cafes and stunning architecture, or venture towards the beautiful Dahlak archipelago, offering excellent opportunities for snorkeling and diving. The Eritrean highlands provide a breathtaking landscape for trekking and bird watching. There are also numerous festivals throughout the year that align with this season, providing a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture.



Prior to visiting Eritrea, there are several things that travelers need to prepare. A visa is required for all foreign visitors, so ensure to apply in advance. It's advisable to receive routine vaccines along with Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever vaccinations. Tap water is not safe to drink, so always opt for bottled water. For communication, learning a few phrases in Tigrinya, the most widely spoken language, can be helpful. Moreover, the Eritrean currency (Nakfa) is not available outside Eritrea, so it's recommended to carry enough cash in USD or Euro, which can be exchanged locally. Eritrea is relatively safe, but like any travel, it's wise to stay updated on local news and respect local customs and regulations.
